The Juan López Dom Juan 1622 Edición Regional Francia (RE23) is a Cuban regional exclusive crafted for the French market by Habanos S.A., commemorating the 400th anniversary of the birth of French playwright Molière, author of the 1665 play Dom Juan ou le Festin de Pierre. Measuring 150mm (5.9 inches) with a 54-ring gauge, the “Geniales” vitola mirrors the Montecristo Open Eagle and Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan, showcasing Cuba’s iconic cigar craftsmanship. Wrapped in Cuban-selected leaves and aged through double fermentation, it offers a medium-bodied profile with notes of wood and nuts, evolving into leather and roasted tones, followed by a subtly sweet finish.
Presented in semi-natural wooden boxes of 10 numbered cigars (limited to 10,000 boxes globally), each cigar retails for €32 (approx. $33). The secondary band “Exclusiva Francia” highlights its regional exclusivity. Though selected in 2022 under the Edición Regional program, it debuted in early 2025 due to production delays. The overall balance surpasses that of the regular regional limited edition. The flavor in the early and middle sections can be rated 9 points. The finish is slightly loose. It should have more potential after aging.
